Celebrate Daan Utsav with Akshaya Patra

Joy Of Giving 2014

Daan Utsav or the Joy of Giving Week as it was previously known, is celebrated between the 2nd and 8th of October every year in India. This is a time when the entire country comes together to support philanthropic causes and provide support to the less privileged members of society.

Daan Utsav is a very important time for NGOs all over the country as it gives them a platform to reach out to millions of people, and gain involvement for a myriad of worthy causes. The Akshaya Patra Foundation is one such NGO that has the potential to make a huge impact on the lives of underprivileged children during Daan Utsav. Akshaya Patra, which reaches out to over 1.4 million children on every school day with the mid-day meal, works to eliminate classroom hunger in India.

Daan Utsav sees the whole hearted involvement of the public across age groups, occupations and cultures in donating to those in need, either monetarily or through volunteering time and skills. This Daan Utsav help change the course of a child’s life by donating to The Akshaya Patra Foundation. Make a donation in either cash or kind (food grains etc.), adopt a school, donate a vehicle, volunteer at a school, teach a skill, or anything else that you would like to do, and support a child in fulfilling his/her dreams.

There are many ways to help the Akshaya Patra beneficiaries this Daan Utsav, and even help the Foundation reach out to more children. All you need to do is get involved.
